Q: What is the criteria for eligibility?
A: Clarity Glasses Insurance is available online throughout Australia, and you must be 18 years or over. So, if you’ve purchased new prescription glasses in the last 90 days, protect your glasses up to a price of $999.
Q: What is the period of Glasses insurance cover?
A: Your Glasses Insurance will commence on the date you purchase the Policy from Clarity as shown on the Policy Schedule we issue to you. The period of insurance is 12 months. Cover will cease on the expiration date as detailed on your Policy Schedule.
Q: Is there a cooling-off period?
A: Yes you can cancel this Policy within thirty (30) days of its purchase. Clarity will refund the Policy premium that you have paid into your nominated bank account less any taxes or duties that cannot be recovered, unless a claim for something that happened prior to cancellation has been paid, in which case Clarity will not provide any refund. Nor is a refund of premium payable if the pro-rata amount is less than $10.00.
Q: What are the features and benefits of the Glasses Insurance policy?
A: The purpose of Glasses Insurance cover is to cover the cost of repair or replacement of Your Glasses in the event of Accidental Damage, Vandalism or Theft, subject to the terms and conditions of this Policy.
The maximum amount Clarity will pay to repair or replace Your Glasses per claim will not exceed the purchase price of Your Glasses as evidenced on Your Original purchase invoice.
Q: How do I make a claim?
A: If during the Policy period your glasses are stolen, vandalised or damaged by an event covered by this Policy, you should, within seven (7) days, or as soon as reasonably possible to allow the claim to be investigated properly, lodge a claim online at www.clarity2020claims.com.au.
You will require your Policy Certificate number to lodge your claim. You must give Clarity the opportunity to assess the claim. Provided your claim is valid, an authorisation to repair or replace your glasses will be provided.
Instructions will be provided on what to do. In the event of theft, you must report the theft to the police within 24 hours, or as soon as reasonably possible, on your discovery of such theft. You will be required to provide us with a copy of the police report.
All repairs or replacements must be approved by Clarity prior to any repairs or replacements being undertaken. Any repairs or replacements commenced without the prior approval of Clarity will not be covered by this Policy.
You will also be required to pay the excess fee prior to the repair or replacement on each successful claim as detailed in the ‘What is the Cost?’ section of this PDS.
Q: I left my glasses in a restaurant. When I went back to find them, they were not there. Can I claim this loss?
A: No – you cannot claim for the loss of losing your glasses.
Theft is the intent of a third party to deprive you permanently of your glasses.
Q: My dog chewed my glasses and damaged the frame. Can I claim for the repair?
A: Yes – You can claim for the damage to your glasses as the damage was accidental.
Q: My grandchild grabbed my glasses and damaged the arm. Can I claim for the repair?
A: Yes – The damage incurred to your glasses was accidental and therefore covered under the insurance policy.
Q: Why would I want specific Glasses insurance if I have household insurance which covers damage to glasses?
A: Your glasses may be covered under your household insurance policy. However, it is likely that the excess payment you would be required to pay by your household insurer may well be considerably higher than the Clarity excess. A claim on your household policy may also cause a loss of a no claims bonus.
Q: I scratched my lenses when cleaning them. Can I claim the cost of repair or replacement of the lenses?
A: In most cases No, as the damage is usually caused by using an inappropriate material to clean the lenses in your glasses.
Q: I sat on my glasses when they were in the back pocket of my jeans and broke the frame. Can I claim the cost of repair or replacement?
A: Yes – Where the damage to your glasses was accidental, the cost of the repair or the replacement is covered by the Clarity policy.
Q: When I have damaged my glasses accidentally, can I get them repaired and send you an invoice for the cost?
A: No – All claims will be assessed by Clarity. Clarity will confirm the validity of the claim and determine whether to repair the glasses or arrange for a replacement.
